Utility Patents
Processes, machines, articles of manufacture, and compositions of matter. A utility patent may protect a new product, component, machine, process, system, chemical composition, or improvement. It differs from a design patent, which protects the product’s ornamental appearance.
Design Patents
Ornamental designs for articles of manufacture, including configuration or shape, surface ornamentation, or combination of configuration and surface ornamentation. Examples may include the appearance of consumer products, furniture, tools, jewelry, containers, packaging, devices, and other manufactured items.
Trademarks, Service Marks and Trade Dress
A mark identifies the source of goods or services and protects the goodwill associated with a business or brand. Marks may include product, and service names; logos; slogans; letters and numbers; designs; colors or color combinations; sounds; scents; distinctive packaging; product shapes; and other nonfunctional features that identify source. Trade dress is the distinctive, nonfunctional overall appearance of a product, its packaging, or a commercial environment.

Information, subject to reasonable efforts to maintain its secrecy, having independent economic value from not being generally known and not being readily ascertainable by proper means by others who can obtain economic value from its disclosure or use
Right of Publicity
Use of image, including personal name, likeness, voice, signature, or persona
